Project- Timber Framed Great Room on a new home we built in Oxford, CT

The material is 8" x 8"  free of heart center (FOHC) doug fir.  We also prefabricated our own roof and wall panels.  We prefabricated high performance roof panels prior to the frame being erected. A prefinished white shiplap was attached to them prior to installation.  We were able to hide all the seems behind the timbers and the purlins to give the ceiling a very clean finish.  We prefabricated the wall panels including the gable end. The wall panels had  1/2" sheetrock attached to them prior to installation.  Again, we were able to hide all our seems behind the timbers to give the room a flawless look.  The electrical plugs and switches were also pre built into our wall panels.

Project- Reclaimed Scissor Trusses- Pool House, New Canaan, CT

Designed, Cut and Built these timber frame scissor trusses from reclaimed hand hewn hemlock.  The material was sourced from a late 1800's dairy barn in Upstate, NY.  The goal of the project was to provide the client with a truly authentic looking timber frame package.  We prefabricated the trusses using traditional mortise and tenon joinery.  We took care to conceal the majority of the existing pockets by facing them towards the ceiling, those that we couldn't we filled with material from the same timber.  In addition to the trusses we fabricated and installed the rest of the timbers in the room including ridge beam, purlins, perimeter beam and posts in all necessary components.

Project- Hammer Beam Truss- Amenia, NY

We fabricated and installed 2 hammer beam trusses with custom steel brackets and tie rod.  These massive trusses are built out of 8" x 8" and 8" x 10" FOHC doug fir.  The wall post height on these trusses is 14' and the overall width is 28'.

Project- Reclaimed Industrial Style Truss- Amenia, NY

We fabricated and Installled 6 Resawn White Oak Trusses.  The material is reclaimed hand hewn white oak timbers that were resawn square.  They have a more modern look, but still have a ton of natural character.  These trusses are structural and act as collar ties breaking the room into 8' sections.  This allowed us to use only a 2 wide 11 7/8" LVL between them to carry the conventionally framed roof above.  Because the timbers were reclaimed we relied on a 3 wide lvl structural rafter above each reclaimed timber.  The 3 1/2" x 6" rafters between each truss are not structural and only a design consideration.  The trusses were designed by Di Biase Filkoff Architects.

Project- New Home, Exterior Finish Package

Besides building this timber frame home, we also supplied and installed the exterior trim package.  The siding is a prefinished white cedar shake with a 5" weather exposure.  For the exterior trim we used mahogany with a clear oil.  It is installed using a stainless steel ring shank nail.  The bulk of the roof is a GAF slateline asphalt shingle with open copper valleys and copper rake, drip and window head flashings.  We installed a standing seam metal roof on the front porch and the dormer in the front and back of the home.

The timbers are 8" x 8" posts and 6" x 8" Free of Heart Center Doug Fir.  The timbers were prefinished with a clear oil prior to installation.  The roof panels were made out of 2" x 8" fir with 5/8" zip sheathing so we could instantly achieve a weather tight shell.
